    1. The overall reply, former treasurer & accountant, Mr. Stinnett, is that any good manager is required to assess ROI, return on investment. This could be a discussion topic at the annual meeting.

      1. I have since learned that WSE HOA 2019 is Marilyn Wieneke’s “handle” as we used to call it in radio-language. Marilyn, when you reply, is it as a homeowner, or chair of the board? I just want clarification when things are “official” comments.

  1. I walk my dog over there most nights, and my kids like to take a soccer ball over and kick it around once in a while, although that is inconsistent.

  2. Yes, I am at the park almost every day, with my dog (I always clean up). I live very close so it is convenient for me. Love the park. I see many neighbors there, and kids. But it is a small number of the total neighborhood who use it regularly. Joan Morley

  3. My family uses the park! I go to the park at least weekly, usually more than once a week with my kids to run around, play with a soccer ball, and fetch with the dog. We also loved the park when it snowed this year!
We have only lived in WSE for a bit over a year and truly enjoy the extra space!

  4. When we first moved here in 1989, our street had a fresh set of young children (Mica, Jae, Chakee, Bryant, Bridget, Abby, Marion, Caitlyn, Paul), and middle-school babysitters (Misha, Sara, Megan, Tavia, Tanelle), and they did not really go there to play at all. Each of our homes had enough activities to keep them occupied, and our street was a straightaway. Then, going to the park was not the most convenient thing with the steps always in need of maintenance. The only time us adults were ever down there was to celebrate with the community during the neighborhood events, which are now few & far between.
In early 2017, when the “threat” of a portion of the park was going to be affected by the development of the adjacent property south of it, there was informal discussion about selling the property, or a section that was to allow access to the new development.
PERSONALLY, I am of the strong opinion that since the park has never had ANY value to my family, and has cost the HOA the greatest expense in maintenance and liability over the years, I prefer it is sold, and the proceeds of which to be used in developing the OTHER TWO FLAGLOTS that connect all three levels of the neighborhood. The development of these areas would then allow for better (and equal) access for all the homeowners in all sections of WaSqEst.

Besides, I’m curious to know how many actual homeowners this query reaches in the first place. The page says there are 35 followers, and some of those would be duplicate households.

  5. I live next to the park and I can tell you it gets a lot of use. Every day, many times per day, there are people there, lots of different people. Just not people who read this blog, apparently.

    1. Bill Dwyer — I know of several people who are not WSE homeowners who use the park. I’m told that many homes south of our neighborhood that border that empty lot south of the park have gates that give them direct access to Cougar Park from that direction.
