Break-ins reported again in our neighborhood

Unfortunately, two break-ins have been reported in our neighborhood Saturday 4/27 and today, 4/30.

Saturday, the thief broke into a basement of one home in the night and stole a briefcase from the home. Today, sometime between 3-6, the thief entered the side garage door of another home and stole an E bike. The homeowner chased him down and held him until the police arrived.

Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity right away.

  2. Sunday 4/28 a neighbor had their car stolen from their driveway- this occurred near the park cul-de-sac on Ventura Dr. Seems like we have some major criminal activity going on- hoping the police can link all of these if they have been reported.

  4. My camera caught a guy on a bike carrying another bike (!) resting on the handlebars, going West on Ventura Drive, but it was at 2:18pm yesterday. Was that the guy?

What was the breakin on the 27th? Anything I should look for on cameras?

  5. A REMINDER to be vigilant again, and really look out for each other. I encourage everyone to be friendly and get to know your immediate neighbors, so we can all protect each other. I receive monthly reports from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, and I pay close attention to crimes REPORTED within 2mile radius of our neighborhood. I have not seen any reports for the past year. So — there may be crimes occurring, but NOT reported.

I hope that the incidents mentioned above have been reported to the police department, so that we can monitor statistics. In the meantime, I also encourage everyone who has cameras to keep recordings for up to a week, so maybe we can mobilize ourselves to immediately report incidents, and have the ability to review any chances of catching offenders.

I got a call from the TPD community engagement person today (Thursday, May 2nd), letting me know that someone from our neighborhood inquired about the police giving us a talk about security, etc. Now I’m wondering if the recent incidents were the impetus.

Please reach out to any of us at the HOA Board for concerns.

  6. Do we know if these doors/cars were locked, or not. I believe the crime is different if it involves breaking into a house vs walking in through an unlocked door.
