Hello Neighbors! Special thanks to Terry Crawford who engaged with the City of Tigard to complete an updated speed study of our neighborhood. Please read the results below.
TLDR; More then 1/2 the people travelling through our community are speeding. Please be respectful of your neighbors and pedestrians and slow down.

Comments:
- The study was conducted by the City of Tigard over a one-week period from March 14th through March 22nd .
- They used a calibrated measuring device mounted on one of the streetlight poles in the neighborhood. The counts were done anonymously and without the driver’s knowledge any measurements were being taken. No license numbers or photos taken; purely trip and speed counts.
- Compared to the study done (and published on the HOA website) in 2019, we have about the same number of trips this year.
- Eastbound traffic makes a right off of SW 72nd and has a speed hump to deal with and yet the Eastbound speeding is as bad as that Westbound. Conclusion is that speed bumps are useless in calming speeders, i.e., slowing them down.
- We had no one exceeding 41 mph as we had in 2019. There is still someone who feels it is OK to drive through the neighborhood 10-15 mph in excess of the posted 25 mph speed limit. Why????
- We still have half of the people driving through the neighborhood who driving in excess of the posted speed limit. Why???
The same message about the solution to the problem as in 2019: we each own being responsible and speed limit compliant drivers in our neighborhood. We need to look out for each other by driving at or below, as conditions warrant, the posted 25 mph speed limit. It is interesting to note the number of “20 is plenty” and “We need to look out for each other” signs posted in the upper neighborhood prior to the Alfred Street exit. Think that part of the neighborhood has a speeding problem as well?
PLEASE SLOW DOWN
